WASTEWATER TREATMENT TRIAL 1

The data below is the result of a trial done at a chemical wastewater treatment facility in India. This particular facility treated the wastewater generated by a pesticide production plant. The primary component of the waste stream was an array of "chlorinated hydrocarbons" generated during the pesticide production process. Chlorinated hydrocarbons are very difficult to biodegrade due to their complex structure.

Throughout the trial the BOD Levels (biological oxygen demand) were monitored on a daily basis. Biological oxygen demand is the amount of dissolved oxygen required to meet the metabolic needs of aerobic microorganisms in an aqueous environment rich in organic matter, such as sewage. In short BOD is a measure of the organic pollutant load. If BOD levels are reduced it is an indication that the microbial species present in the system are efficiently biodegrading / removing the organic pollutants within the system!

The purpose of this trial was to ascertain whether or not there was a correlation between applying Organica's Wastewater Treatment Product and the BOD levels present in the system. The data shows, that Organica's Wastewater Treatment Product has a profound affect on BOD levels. Furthermore the data shows that when less product, is added to the system the percentage of BOD reduction declined. It clearly demonstrates that when you inoculate wastewater with Organica's formulation it drastically increases the efficiency of the wastewater treatment process and expedites biodegradation. Again keeping in mind that the "chlorinated hydrocarbons" present in the system are difficult to degrade under any circumstance. The system utilized was very primitive, which further lends credence to the efficacy of the product. It consisted of an aeration tank (where effluent entered and product was applied) and a clarifying tank used to settle out solids (biomass). The flow rate was 26,400 gallons per day and the average dissolved oxygen reading in the aeration tank was 1.5 (a very low reading). Despite the fact that there were inherently low dissolved oxygen levels within the system the formulation still performed well. This lends credence to the facultative portion of Organica's formulation.
